CSPNJ, a mental health nonprofit is looking for a full-time Controller in the Freehold office. Under the direct supervision of the CFO, the Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting functions of the agency. This role ensures compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and supports the organization’s mission by maintaining sound fiscal management and reporting practices.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, budgets, and reports.
- Prepare for and manage annual audits, working closely with external auditors.
- Assist in the development of financial forecasts to support short-term and long-term organizational goals.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate accounting and finance staff.
Full-time | 40 hours p/w

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
- Minimum of 2 years in a nonprofit setting.
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards, including fund accounting and grant compliance.
- Experience with financial software systems like YARDI, Sage or other accounting platforms and advanced Excel skills.
- High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively with people at all levels and in cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work with individuals with mental illness in a caring and professional manner.
- Valid NJ Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
- Lived Experience: CSPNJ prioritizes hiring people who use their own life experience dealing with mental health/substance use issues to inspire and support others.
