POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant or Accounting Associate with a background in hospitality accounting and proficiency in M3 and/or Yardi software. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate accounting and reporting, and supporting the financial growth of the organization. They will be an energetic person with a can-do attitude as well as a thoughtful problem solver with proven accounting, excel spreadsheet and project management skills.
LOCATION: Boston, Corporate Office
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Execute the day-to-day accounting activities related to Corporate OpCo and hotel and restaurant operations.
- Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and analyses for accuracy.
- Maintain and update M3 system records, ensuring accurate and up-to-date property information. Load monthly results into Yardi.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper recording and classification of hotel and restaurant transactions, shared expenses, and bill backs.
- Reconcile and analyze general ledger accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and provide necessary documentation and support.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and reporting guidelines.
- Participate in the implementation of process improvements and best practices within the accounting department.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to offshore accountants and hotel and restaurant team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
- Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and developments related to accounting and accounting software.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections for managed properties.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field;
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting roles with a focus on hospitality operations.
- Proficiency in M3 software, including experience in data entry, reporting, and system maintenance. Yardi experience is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret and analyze complex financial data.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with a high degree of accuracy in work.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating across teams and presenting financial information.
- Prior experience in mentoring and leading accounting teams is a plus.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other accounting software.
Salary : $70,000 - $85,000
