Summary:
As community builders, dignity is central to how we approach everything. We are looking for a multifaceted Life Coach who can inspire, guide, listen to, and learn from seven young men living at Collective Chicago. We need leaders who can care for themselves, have proximity to hardship, and possess a heart for creating lasting life change in Chicago.
We are looking for a potential hire July of '25. Our coaches manage varying caseloads. At maximum capacity, coaches conduct up to 15 coaching meetings per week with residents; providing supportive accountability to help develop hard and soft skills related to employment, personal finance, mental health, and habit formation. Additional meetings include an average of three hours per week for team meetings and community-related events. This role requires a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach. Priority will be given to candidates who have graduated from a comprehensive coaching program accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) or who have Cognitive-Behavioral certifications or graduate degrees in therapy.
Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with writing resumes, setting job search expectations, and tracking job application progress to acquire full-time employment
- Assist with interviewing prospective residents
- Build relationships founded on mutuality and trust
- Communicate effectively via email and document meetings and progress notes in Salesforce
- Help organize and host a weekly house meal and bi-monthly events (helping cook on rotation every three weeks, occasionally on evenings or weekends)
- Address infractions to resident agreements, which may include dismissing a resident
- Help at the occasional volunteer event or annual celebration each November
- Be available on occasion to make an errand run with or for resident related needs such as but not limited to: Aldi gift cards, weekly dinner ingredients, or for professional attire *all of which are reimbursed.
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills, empathy, and a safe curious space to build trust with residents
- Enrolled in therapy or willing to start
- Attentive to ego, with the ability to take a trauma-informed approach to de-escalate conflict
- Familiarity or proficiency with Google Drive Suite and Salesforce
- A solid understanding of various mental health conditions and appropriate coaching strategies
Priority given to:
- Personal experience with poverty, namely homelessness
- Trauma-informed training and Co-Active coaching training preferred
- Priority will be given to those who can be on site at least once or twice a week
