About CARA: CARA’s mission is to ensure that first-generation college students, low-income students, and students of color have the knowledge and support necessary to enroll in and persist through postsecondary education . CARA’s programs help transform the culture of schools, college campuses, and community-based organizations by training a wide range of youth and adults within those communities to support all of their students to and through their next steps after high school. CARA is a partner project of The Fund for the City of New York (FCNY).
Job Description: The Finance and Operations Manager works closely with CARA’s Co-Executive Directors on budget and financial management and organization-wide operational logistics.
Job Responsibilities:
Financial Account Management
- Develop and maintain systems for tracking of CARA’s revenue and expenses
- Liaise with the FCNY to manage revenue and spending
- Provide regular financial reports including budget v. actuals by department, grant progress reports, and cash flow data
- Create required financial reports for foundation grants
- Manage corporate purchase card, reconciling all expenses through Concur system
- Meet quarterly with program teams to review budget spend-down
- Perform internal quarterly audit to ensure all postings are accurate and cash accounts are reconciled
- Support development team with management of individual giving
Operations
- Manage onboarding and off-boarding of CARA staff members, in collaboration with FCNY
- Generate and track monthly invoices for contracts including Department of Education
- Administer and manage consultant contracts including paperwork, invoice payments and renewals
- Manage CARA organization-wide events; support program-specific events and procurement of event space
- Document and update a financial policies and procedures manual; make recommendations to management on creating efficiencies around financial and operating systems
- Coordinate office operations, manage inventory, and support administrative needs
Qualifications:
- BA in Accounting, Business Administration, or related major preferred
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience with non-profit accounting, payroll, and administrative support
- Highly skilled in developing and maintaining financial spreadsheets and models
- Experience with grants and city contracts a plus
- Extremely detail oriented
- Excellent communication skills
Start: March 2025
Salary Range: $70,000-$75,000
