Position Summary:
The Support Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the College and Career Access Center (CCAC) by assisting with administration, operations, marketing, outreach, community initiatives, and direct student engagement. This position combines the responsibilities of supporting internal operations and community initiatives with the internal and outreach-focused duties. The Support Specialist will help promote CCAC’s services, support students through post-secondary planning, and assist with social media and event coordination. Additionally, the Support Specialist will reach out to previous graduates to offer continued college and career planning support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Client Services and Student Outreach:
- Greet clients at the Center, provide them with an elevator speech about CCAC’s services, and schedule appointments as needed.
- Provide 1:1 college and career consultants to clients as needed
- Promote the services offered by the Center through peer engagement and referrals, encouraging students and families to take advantage of available resources.
- Conduct outreach to graduates from the Class of 2014 and beyond via text, phone calls, emails, and social media, offering continued CCAC services for college and career planning.
- Serve as a liaison to students and recent graduates, offering information and guidance on post-secondary options, including college, skilled trades, military enlistment, and direct workforce entry.
Marketing and Research Support:
- Assist with creating content for social media platforms and our quarterly newsletter newsletter to enhance community visibility and engagement.
- Research and update monthly scholarship listings to ensure they remain current and accurate.
- Assist with outreach efforts during community events to educate students on the importance of post-secondary planning and career exploration.
Community Initiatives Support and Data Entry:
- Support the organization of events and programs like Kids2College/Pathways to Professional Skilled Trades (K2C/PPST) and Juniors Over the Local Circuit (JOLC) by assisting with logistical tasks, preparation, and close out.
- Provide data entry support by accurately inputting and organizing survey responses collected from various initiatives, ensuring timely and efficient tracking of key metrics and feedback.
General Administrative and Office Support:
- Provide other administrative support as needed to the Executive Director, Operations Coordinator, Finance Coordinator, and Community Initiatives Coordinator.
- Receive and sort incoming mail, scan and organize documents, process and file purchase receipts.
- Contribute to efforts that improve CCAC systems, processes, and communication strategies for better service delivery.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or current enrollment in a higher education program required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey ideas clearly and foster engagement.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also contributing as part of a team.
- Skilled in managing multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
