Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nutrition Assistant to join our team. Under direct supervision of the Registered Dietitian, the Nutrition Assistant gathers and organizes patient information for use by Registered Dietitian. Is responsible for completing patient nutritional screenings and patient educations accurately and within the timeframes described in facility policies and procedures, to maintain meal ticket accuracy, provide quality assurance during all patient meal services, collect Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement data and actively participate in the Hospital's allergy prevention program.
Duties
- Effectively assists with collection of patient information under the direct supervision of the RD within timeframes described in facility procedures.
- Completes patient nutritional screenings under the direct supervision of the RD within timeframes described in facility procedures.
- Provides effective nutrition education on therapeutic diets and food/drug interactions as described in site policies and procedures.
- Effectively conducts quality assurance on patient tray line.
- Regularly participates and adheres to facility's allergy prevention program.
- Provides effective oversight to the activities of site Food and Nutritional Services department and its personnel to ensure proper preparation of food.
- Collects accurate data for Quality Assurance/ Performance Improvement measures.
- Demonstrates effective leadership skills including problem solving, delegation, organization, good decision-making, and time management.
- Demonstrates effective awareness of, and adherence to, safety and legal requirements established at the site and department level.
- Effectively performs additional duties and responsibilities as position requires.
Qualifications
- Diet Technician Registered, or student enrolled in a DTR program, or student in an "Approved Pre-Professional Practice (AP4) program", or Graduate of Nutrition and Dietetic Administration, or student enrolled in an approved Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD).
- Speak, read, and write in English.
