Position title: Director of Individual Giving
Status: Full-time, Exempt
Standard Hours: Monday-Friday (Within 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. window)
Location: Hybrid-3 days in office each week, 2-days remote each week
Reports To: Chief External Affairs Officer
Starting Salary: Starting at $70,000 annually and increases with relevant experience.
Assigned To: Development.
Position Summary:
The Director of Individual Giving is responsible for building the pipeline of current College Now donors through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship to increase their giving and engagement. The Director of Individual Giving also is responsible for identifying new donors to College Now, through the Mentoring Program and elsewhere, and for developing effective cultivation and engagement strategies for those individuals as well.
Essential Functions:
Planning:
- Evaluate, refine, and further tailor annual campaign solicitations
- Analyze giving patterns of current and lapsed donors ($1,000 and below) as well as donors who only have given to College Now events
- Identify and develop variety of opportunities for cultivation and engagement
- Utilize wealth screening tools to evaluate College Now mentors as potential donors
Execution:
- Develop and execute fundraising campaigns aimed at individual donors, including annual fund appeals, targeted online giving initiatives, and special events
- Initiate and maintain regular communication with individual donors through personalized phone calls, emails, and in-person meetings to provide timely updates on the impact of donations and develop opportunities for further engagement
- Identify individual donors who have only previously supported College Now events and create targeted strategy of engagement and continued philanthropic giving
- Research and identify current and potential individual donors to understand their philanthropic interests and giving capacity through various channels including wealth screening software, database analysis, networking, and community outreach
- Work closely with the Chief External Affairs Officer and the Senior Coordinator of Gift Entry to track fundraising progress against goals, identify gaps, and make course corrections
- In conjunction with Chief External Affairs Officer and Manager of Administration, execute a range of development events for donors and potential donors alike
- Regularly evaluate effectiveness of donor engagement strategies and fundraising campaigns
Additional responsibilities
- Attend College Now organizational level meetings and participate in a minimum of one staff sub-committees
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Must-Have Skills:
- Proven success in individual donor fundraising, including relationship building, solicitation, and stewardship
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to manage complex donor portfolio
- Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate College Now’s mission to a variety of audiences
- Demonstrated commitment to working as part of a team
- Exceedingly strong organizational skills, including attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and the capacity to multi-task
Must-Have Technical Skills:
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office and donor database software platform, preferable Raiser’s Edge or Salesforce
Previous Work Experience:
- Minimum of five years of experience in individual fundraising
Education Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree required
