The successful candidate will teach courses in Live Event Video, Sound, Rigging, and Management. The Instructor of Live Entertainment Production will participate in the curricular, operational, and production support for the Live Entertainment Production Program and will assist with productions in the Performing Arts Department.
This position requires teaching a variety of Live Entertainment Production courses as assigned. Courses to be taught include, but are not limited to, Live Event Video, Live Event Sound, and Live Entertainment Rigging. The successful candidate will also help to develop the Live Entertainment Program curriculum and degree. There is also potential to teach courses in the Theatre transfer program as well. In addition, the successful candidate may be assigned production roles depending on preferences and qualifications.

1) Selects, prepares and maintains current curriculum, course outlines and printed and non-printed instructional materials. Revises and updates course content as needed.
2) Provides the students and the Division a syllabus that clearly states course objectives and learning outcomes, attendance policies in line with those of the college, texts and readings, timelines and evaluation criteria, and any other information required by College, Division, or department.
3) Meets all classes at assigned times. If unable to meet an assigned class, reports absence to supervisor and division staff in an appropriate manner.
4) Teaches assigned courses in subject field each academic semester. Deliver course content using a variety of teaching styles.
5) Provides instructional support to the students. Refers students, when appropriate, to sources of specialized services within the College.
6) Is available for student consultation through phone, email, or appropriately established office hours.
7) Evaluates student performance in meeting course objectives and learning outcomes through assignments, projects, discussions or examinations. Provides feedback to students in a timely manner on student performance.
8) Maintains accurate grade records as required by the College. Submits all attendance and grade records electronically prior to the required deadlines. Is able to produce appropriate grade records for supervisor upon request.
9) Assists in the advisement of students.
10) Uses the appropriate College policies and procedures to resolve and document student complaints, concerns and problems.
11) Assists in developing and administering discipline-appropriate measures of student academic achievement, use departmental testing instruments as provided. Administers other instruments designed to measure student learning outcomes as requested and required by the department or division. Provides all results as requested.
12) Encourages students to submit course evaluations, reviews course evaluations when available and uses feedback to improve course delivery.
13) Participates, when appropriate, in the formation and meetings of career program advisory committees, governance groups, College, division, and department committees.
14) Attends faculty meetings, department meetings, and all other meetings called by authorized personnel.

Required Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Theatre with emphasis in Theatre Technology or Design OR B.A. in Theatre Technology with 5 years extensive professional experience at recognized professional venues OR 10 years (18,000 hours) extensive professional experience at recognized professional venues in Sound, Video, Rigging or Electrics.
Desired Qualifications:
Prior college-level teaching experience.
Demonstrated professional learning or certification in evidence-based student-focused pedagogical teaching and assessment practice such as ACUE, workshops and data use.
MFA in Theatre with an emphasis on Theatre Technology.
ETCP certification in Rigging (Theatrical or Arena)
ETCP certification in Entertainment Electrician or Portable Power Distribution
Academic emphasis in theatre design; Academic or professional experience with Live Event Video and Projections; Academic or professional experience in Live Event Sound and Sound Design; experience designing sets for live theatre productions; experience in teaching theatre at the college level; knowledge of theatre equipment and safe theatrical practices including lighting, carpentry, stagecraft and rigging; ability to teach both traditional design practices, such as scenic drawings, ground plans, elevations, renderings, and model-making, as well as a demonstrated proficiency in industry standard computer software applications relevant to technical theatre.
The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated proficiency in a variety of technical theatre skills which may include: video design and projection; automated lighting programming; theatrical audio/video and electrical knowledge and experience; properties construction and design; upholstery; costume crafts; and costume construction.

This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position. Salary placement is commensurate with education and experience. An optional contract for the summer session offers the potential for significantly greater earnings.
The minimum 2024 - 2025 academic year (fall and spring semester) base salary range is $69,117 with a master’s degree to $83,790 with a doctorate in the subject field. The base salary range for the 2025-2026 academic year has not been determined.
The hiring range is $69,117 to $122,758 based on education and relevant experience.
Faculty may be assigned to any of the three campuses; Grayslake, Lakeshore or Southlake. New faculty hires are required to attend orientation the week (August 4-8) before the start date of August 11, 2025.
