The Workforce Food Safety Instructor is responsible for delivering engaging and informative Serv Safe food safety training courses to students. The instructor will play a crucial role in equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand and adhere to food safety regulations, ensuring a safe and healthy food environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Develop and Deliver Engaging Training :

  • Plan and deliver comprehensive Serv Safe food safety training courses, covering all essential topics outlined in the ServSafe curriculum.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional methods, including lectures, group discussions, interactive exercises, , to cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Create a positive and engaging learning environment that fosters student participation and interaction.
  • Prepare and utilize appropriate training materials, such as presentations, handouts, and visual aids.

Assess Student Learning :

  • Administer and proctor the Serv Safe Manager or Serv Safe Food Handler examinations.
  • Maintain accurate student records and attendance.
  • Stay Current with Food Safety Regulations :

  • Stay abreast of the latest food safety regulations, best practices, and industry standards.
  • Ensure that training materials and teaching methods are updated to reflect current industry standards and regulations.
  • Provide Support to Students :

  • Answer student questions and address their concerns regarding food safety.
  • Assist students in preparing for the Serv Safe examination.
  • Qualifications : Education :

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's or bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, Culinary Arts, or a related field is preferred.
  • Certification : Certified Serv Safe Instructor certification is required (can be obtained after being hired.)
  • Experience :

  • Prior experience in the food service industry is preferred. Experience in teaching or training is a preferred.
  • Skills :

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong commitment to student success.
  • Passion for food safety and a commitment to promoting safe food handling practices.
  • Bi-lingual preferred
