Job Description

We are looking for a handyman who can troubleshoot and repair all aspects of our growing collection of buildings.

*Roles and Responsibilities*

• Confidently, accurately, and quickly assess problems with plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems

- Involves residential and commercial settings
- Includes multiple styles of HVAC (boiler, furnace, mini splits)

• Order and install correct replacement parts, make repairs, or coordinate third party repair as necessary.
• Assist with other building management tasks, such as

- Rekeying doors and duplicating keys
- Troubleshooting Access Control software and hardware
- Installing and maintaining security cameras
- Installing and maintaining indoor and outdoor lighting
- Installing and maintaining External signage
- Minor construction tasks like replacing doors, repairing walls, adding or removing walls, painting.

• Manage all preventative maintenance

- Create plan and timeline for preventative maintenance
- Execute plan

• Major tool repair

- Assist Shop Lead with tool repair and maintenance in the workshop

• Vehicle Maintenance
• Other Duties as Required

- As a small team, your expertise may come in handy in a variety of other roles. Flexibility and willingness to adapt are important qualities in a good applicant.

Estimated hours/schedule: The goal will be to maintain a standard 9-5 weekday schedule. In case of emergencies, weekend or evening hours may be required, but those hours should be offset by weekday time off as promptly as possible.

About the Employer

The College of St. Joseph the Worker is a Catholic institute of higher learning within the diocese of Steubenville that simultaneously trains students in the Catholic intellectual tradition to earn a BA degree as well as in the skilled trades.

A small, tight-knit group of tradesmen, academics, and administrators run the college in downtown Steubenville, OH. We offer very flexible and no set limit to vacation time. All Catholic solemnities are meant to be days off-and so they are. We don't have a ping-pong table at the office, but you could build one as all employees have free access to the woodshop.
