Description
Reporting to the Director of Campus Recreation, the Assistant Director is responsible for the comprehensive intramural, club sport, and special programming. This position works collaboratively with the entire Recreation Center staff to plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive co-curricular recreation programs that aligns with the College's mission and reflects the best practices amongst institutions of higher education.
The assistant director is responsible for all aspects of the College's intramural and club sport program, including hiring, training, and supervising intramural supervisors and officials; overseeing the scheduling of fields and courts for intramural and club sport practices and games; utilizing IMLeagues for scheduling of intramural games, managing sign-ups, and collecting waivers; ensure intramural and club sport participants adhere to college policies; marketing; assessment; and support the director in day-to-day facilities operations.
The assistant director must demonstrate strong understanding of collegiate recreation sports; ability to collaborate with campus partners; work in a fast-paced environment; have an understanding of risk management; possess strong interpersonal and communication skills; approach their work with an awareness of diversity and inclusion; and be able to foster strong relationships with campus partners.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Intramurals
- Oversee a robust intramural program that focuses on inclusive and fair play, which includes 11 sports and over 1,000 participants
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate 30 student staff including intramural officials and supervisors
- Publicize and promote intramural seasons
- Use IMLeagues for scheduling of intramural games, managing sign-ups, and collecting waivers
- Educate intramural sport participants of departmental policies and procedures as well as college policies
