EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Job duties of the Early College Partnerships Counselor/Coordinator will include, but is not limited to the following: Providing comprehensive counseling services to dual/concurrent enrollment students, including personal, academic, career, and transfer counseling;Developing and facilitating dual/concurrent enrollment and outreach workshops to local high schools and community agencies. This includes but is not limited to COS GE & transfer (Cal-GETC) patterns, COS program pathways, and appropriate course selection for dual/concurrent enrollment students; Assisting dual/concurrent enrollment students in selection of courses, developing student education plans (SEPs) and COS pathway exploration related to educational goals;Providing comprehensive counseling services for new/prospective and dual/concurrent enrollment students and assisting in the organization and implementation of matriculation activities, such as application, orientation, assessment, counseling, & follow-up services;Providing support for enrollment and onboarding activities for identified groups of students and communicating regularly with high school counselors and students as a primary counseling contact on campus for dual/concurrent enrollment;Provide counseling support as needed for student outreach, Welcome Center, and recruitment activities;Assisting in developing and implementing a dual/concurrent enrollment course catalog, and other counseling resources for high school counselors and dual/concurrent enrollment students;Participating in campus/department/division meetings, conferences, training, and other professional development activities to maintain the expertise required to provide current and reliable counseling information and support students seeking completion of certificate, associate degree, or transfer educational goals;Providing counseling support to partner school systems and the various high schools and alternative education centers;Assisting and maintaining dual enrollment program website to ensure counseling related content is accurate and current for students, parents, and college community to access;Serving as a counseling liaison with feeder high schools, and as a counseling point of contact for high school students/parents, teachers, and counselors;Assisting in the planning and coordination of program events for incoming students, student support services, promoting student enrollment growth;Engage and assist in coordination of the dual/concurrent enrollment program and course scheduling; Coordinate and streamline all dual enrollment counseling services at COS to strengthen internal collaboration among counselors, faculty, administrators, while fostering effective partnerships with high schools, community colleges, and local stakeholders;Planning and identifying the most appropriate dual enrollment courses and assist in the coordination of course scheduling and delivery of related counseling support services in alignment with dual enrollment agreements, and in consultation with college faculty, deans, local high school administrators;Reviewing local high school pathways to ensure alignment with COS Guided Pathways;Collaborating with deans and faculty to build academic pathways;Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director, Dual Enrollment.Assignments may include evening hours and being on location at any of the Sequoias Community College: Visalia, Hanford and/or Tulare. Participation in the governance of the Sequoias Community College District by way of committee assignments is encouraged. Other responsibilities include maintenance of office hours, participation in departmental responsibilities, and the willingness to create and participate in and sustain an atmosphere of equity, which is respectful of diversity District wide.
