The College of the Siskiyous seeks an experienced and qualified Expert Instructional Aid (EIA) to support our training staff in a variety of specialized roles. As a valued member of our team, the EIA will assist students in achieving their learning outcomes and provide essential support to primary instructors.
EIAs with the required skills, training, and physical ability may function as primary skills Instructors for identified skills courses, such as Driver Awareness, Firearms, Arrest and Control, etc. They may also serve as Recruit Training Officers (RTOs) at the College of the Siskiyous Law Enforcement Academy, in accordance with current Peace Officer Standards and Training/POST requirements.

- Monitors instruction to ensure POST regulations and standards are met;
- Mentors and assists in advising Academy trainees;
- Serves as a role model for trainees;
- Conducts uniform inspections/roll call, reviews reports, initiates progressive discipline, and fulfills various administrative functions;
Job Responsibilities and Knowledge:
- Monitors day-to-day instruction to ensure conformance with state legislative mandates and the regulations/procedures of the Commission on Police Officer Standards and Training;
- Assists instructors in class preparations;
- Ensures staff-to-student ratios are maintained and takes appropriate follow-up action to resolve problems and issues in order to meet student training needs.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to deliver educational presentations applying principles of adult learning;
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing;
- Ability to work with other employees, supervisors, and external parties;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged information gained as a result of position functions;
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of a POST certified Academy;
- Must possess or have possessed a POST Basic Certificate in good standing;
- Minimum one (1) year of Patrol Experience;
