Job Title: Ministry Resident
Purpose Statement:
The primary purpose of the College Park Church Residency Program is to educate, equip, and launch godly and gifted male and female leaders for vocational ministry. The Ministry Resident will participate in transformational leadership development, personal mentoring, missional launching, and career development coaching. The Ministry Resident will serve in a primary ministry area within College Park Church with opportunities to take part in ministry rotations in order to gain maximum exposure and experience. The Residency Seminary Track offers time and financial support to complete seminary through a partnership with Indianapolis Theological Seminary. A specific residency path will be determined for each candidate as the recruitment process progresses.
Reports to:
Pastor of Groups & Classes (with joint reporting relationships to other CPC ministry leaders)
Responsibilities:
Substantial Ministry Experience (26 hours per week)
- Serve in a primary ministry area with specific duties on a CPC Staff Team TBD
- Teaching, leadership, and discipleship opportunities as appropriate within a complementarian framework
- Observation of elder and/or staff governance and management
- Other duties as assigned including special projects
Ministry Rotations OR Seminary Coursework (10 hours per week)
- Participate and engage in 4 ministry rotations of your choice
- Ministry rotations will last 3 months each
- Attend classes at Indianapolis Theological Seminary and complete reading, writing, and other coursework.
Missional Launching & Career Development Coaching (4 hours per week)
- Participate in intentional conversations, mentorship, and gifting/performance assessments
- Receive assistance with evaluation of vocational opportunities at CPC and/or our network of relationships with other local church and parachurch ministries
- Receive coaching including cover letter and resume development as well as interview tips, skills, and practice
- Participate in future ministry planning
Education & Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to make decisions and manage multiple projects effectively.
- Must exhibit mature Christian character and spirituality which includes regular disciplines such as Bible reading, memorization/meditation, prayer, and participation in church life.
- Communicates in a consistently loving and professional manner with other staff members, volunteers, and congregants.
- Collaborative spirit and thrives working in a team environment
- Be a current member of CPC or willing to pursue membership within 3 months of hire date
Work Schedule:
- This is a full-time, exempt role totaling approximately 40 hours weekly, Sunday-Thursday with flexibility required for meetings and events
- Attendance at Sunday morning worship services and monthly Worship-based prayer nights required throughout the duration of the residency
- Attendance at staff meetings and other staff functions required
- Time of service: Approximately 18 months for Ministry Residencies; Approximately 2-3 years for Residency Seminary Track
