College Thrive Coach
As our College Thrive Coach, you will report to the Director of College Thrive within the College Thrive Program. The College Thrive Coach will work in close partnership with the College Counseling teams to ensure the smooth transition of rising college freshmen from high school to college teams. The College Thrive Coach works to ensure scholars matriculate to college, college scholars successfully persist, and college scholars graduate within four years. College Thrive Coaches will also collaborate with the Director of Career and Life Design to support the exposure of meaningful career opportunities for our college scholars.
Day to day, you will:
- Provide direct coaching to a caseload of up to 100 scholars across various college campuses
- Implement the College Thrive coaching model with fidelity, addressing persistence concerns to help students earn their bachelor’s degrees in 4 to 6 years
- Support scholars in navigating financial aid processes, ensuring they have manageable debt by overseeing FAFSA, Dream Act, and College Track funding
To thrive in this job, you must:
- Have foundational knowledge of the college persistence and success field. This looks like a proficient level of fluency around college-specific details, financial aid, navigating campus resources, etc.
- Have an unwavering belief in our scholars. This means using strengths-based language when talking about our scholars and the communities they come from, desiring to partner with scholars (without a savior mentality), and recognizing that college scholars are adults with agency. We help guide them on their journey, but it is THEIR journey to a bachelor’s degree.
- Have experience following a project or event plan

College Track is a comprehensive college completion program that equips students from underserved communities to be the first in their families to graduate with a bachelor’s degree. We do this by offering a holistic, asset-based program that invests in each of our scholars over 10 years: from high school to college, through the launch of their careers.
You’ll know the College Thrive Coach role is the right fit if…
- You have 3-5 years of experience in academic advising/coaching of first-generation college students with a preference for supporting scholars at community colleges transferring to bachelor’s degree-granting colleges
- You have a 4 year college degree
- You are driven to help students navigate financial challenges and secure opportunities for career advancement
- You have strong verbal and written communication skills
- You enjoy collaborating with different teams and stakeholders to create a seamless experience for students from high school to alumni
- You have the ability to travel to colleges and universities within the greater Southern California Area (greater Los Angeles and San Diego). Mileage will be reimbursed.
- You are excited about working a a hybrid schedule. You’d be expected to prioritize in-person work at your assigned college campuses 9:00-5:00 Monday-Friday with some variability.
Compensation: This position is Full-Time, Exempt. The full compensation range for a College Thrive Coach in Crenshaw, CA is $59,627 - $80,672/ Year with the exact compensation depending on experience. As someone new to this role at College Track, you can expect an offer between $69,097 - $72,254 /Year to ensure internal equity while leaving room for compensation growth during your time with us.
