CollegeInvest is a not-for-profit division of the Colorado Department of Higher Education which provides 529 college savings plans with 13 billion AUM. We sound like a government entity ( which we are) but we run like a boutique finance shop.

Our vision is to make a higher education financially attainable by saving. Our mission is to be Colorado’s trusted resource in breaking down the financial barriers to attaining a higher education through tax-advantaged college savings plans and special programs.

DESCRIPTION OF JOB

The Business Development Manager, RIA and Tax Professional Channel is responsible for growing CollegeInvest 529 college savings plans by increasing new accounts and contributions with Financial Advisors, RIAs, CPAs and other tax professionals. This junior position is responsible for providing excellent relationship management for existing business and developing new business through a non-commissioned, consultative sales approach for our smaller clients.


COMPENSATION: $65,000 – $85,000/annually

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Business Development Manager is tasked with cultivating and managing established relationships primarily along the front range as well as prospecting and developing new relationships. This is a highly collaborative role that requires strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide effective product expertise when meeting individually and in group presentations. Mastery of 529 savings plans, including the education of tax professionals will be required. This role also requires the ability to effectively teach continuing education classes to small and large groups and to become a trusted resource for financial education.

· Prospecting and relationship management

· Develop and deliver effective presentations

· Budget management

· Coordinate activities with CollegeInvest partners


Reports to:

This position reports to the Director of Sales

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· MUST have 2 years financial sales experience

· Previous or currently held Securities license required

· Bachelor's Degree preferred

· Experience with CRM software – Salesforce preferred

· Comfortable using and learning new technologies

· Self starter

· Ability to work as a team player

· Ability to work in a professional environment with a flexible schedule

· A valid Colorado driver’s license and dependable vehicle is required

· Strong prospecting skills

· Demonstrated knowledge and passion for CollegeInvest’s mission

· Ability to work collaboratively with others

· Exceptional communication, presentation and organization skills

· Ability to build and maintain strong trustworthy relationships

· Capacity to work in a fast-paced, often changing environment

· Ability to persuade, manage their time, prioritize effectively and be goal oriented

BENEFITS:

CollegeInvest offers a benefit package which includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance to the employee and eligible dependents on a cost share basis. Disability insurance is provided at no cost to the employee. Paid leave time is accrued at 14 hours per month for vacation leave and 10 hours per month for sick leave. There are 10 paid holidays in a calendar year.

Employees of the State of Colorado do not contribute to Social Security but contribute to Colorado Public Employee Retirement Association (PERA) instead.
