What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025-26 Teacher (Math, ELA, Science, Social Studies) (New Orleans & Baton Rouge, LA) position at Collegiate Academies?

About This Role: We currently have four high schools in New Orleans and one in Baton Rouge, and we are hiring Math, Science, Social Studies, and English teachers in both cities. Teachers must be deeply committed to creating a classroom culture where 100% of your students are engaged in rigorous lessons aligned to the college-ready bar.

Our Approach to Math: Our Math team at CA is truly teacher-led. With a high retention year over year across our math team, our curriculum has been built with focused investment in collaboration across schools, research, and development by teachers. We are also constantly innovating and pilot new approaches annually to meet the needs of our students. The math courses offered across our network are: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, Calculus, A. P. Calculus, and A. P. Statistics. We also offer targeted interventions aligned with our Algebra I and Geometry courses that can either follow a specially designed instruction (SDI) co-teaching model or a Math Essentials course.

Our Approach to Social Studies: Our social studies classes are grounded in reading, writing and talking about primary sources, with our social studies curricula written by CA teachers to meet state standards and to allow for culturally responsive instruction of our students. It is constantly revised to better meet our students’ needs. At CA, we offer the following social studies courses: World Geography, World History, U.S. History, A. P. U. S. History, and Civics.

Our Approach to English: We design our approach to English to be inclusive and ambitious while also prioritizing choice and ownership. We aim to have the texts and topics we tackle show a wide range of different voices and perspectives. We believe that all students deserve to engage in these conversations and texts, and work to provide supports that allow all students of all abilities access to them. Courses are all aligned to Common Core standards or Advanced Placement requirements. They include English I, II, II, IV, AP Literature and AP Language and Composition.

Our Approach to Science: CA science teachers believe in phenomena-based instruction - building the curiosity, habits, and investigative skills our students need in future STEM careers. Our courses are aligned to Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and our content leaders have written or adopted shared curriculum for Earth and Environmental Science, Chemistry, and Biology. Our teachers partner with the STEM Library Lab, which provides CA students with resources for labs and hands-on experiences both at home and at school which we know are critical for our students’ success in the sciences. We offer Earth and Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, A. P. Environmental Science, A. P. Biology, Anatomy and Physiology.

Teacher Development at Collegiate Academies: At CA, our teachers never stop learning and never stop growing. Here’s how:

  • Our approach to teacher development at CA is focused on individual goals and growth combined with a high degree of individualized support.
  • Every teacher has a coach, and you will collaboratively, with your coach, create your growth goals and determine the plan that will see you hit those goals.
  • There are some things in common with other teachers at your school -- school goals, school priorities, school-based PD, etc. -- but it is in your relationship with your coach where you will translate those things into what you specifically need to meet those goals yourself.
  • You will also grow year over year as an expert in your content in collaboration with your peers across the network through content-specific professional development and data investigations.
  • There is an additional layer of support for first year teachers called the CA Teacher Residency (CATR), which is an intensified, pre-service and coaching plan to develop you in the skills that we have seen that make rookie teachers most successful in their first year at CA.
