Title: Teacher, Math Specialist (Secondary)
Reports To: Principal
Employee Type: Full Time, School Year Only, Salaried, Exempt

Summary

Coordinate, support, and evaluate the school's educational programs in mathematics. Serve as a resource and consultant for teaching staff and provide intervention strategies to address deficiencies and improve students' success in mathematics.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress
  • Assists teachers in modifying instructional methods to fit individual students’ needs, including students with special needs
  • Documents teaching and student progress, activities, and outcomes
  • Assess and provide feedback to administration and teaching staff regarding student progress and achievement and the effectiveness of the mathematics curriculum
  • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for related student activities and achievement as required by CCS procedures and applicable laws
  • Enforces the CCS Student Code of Conduct, the CCS Uniform Code, and the CCS Computer Usage Code
  • Promotes good citizenship through actions as a role model
  • Conducts himself or herself according to professional, ethical principles that reflect favorably upon the individual and the school
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality pertaining to school and students’ information, progress, and records.
  • Abides by the CCS Employee Manual, CCS policies and procedures, and the PA Code of Professional Conduct for Educators

Qualifications

  • Pennsylvania teaching certification in the relevant area(s). If certification is from a different state, PA certification must be obtained within a determined timeframe.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience and demonstrated competence teaching, with a record of successfully impacting student achievement
  • Experience with Eureka Math preferred
  • Knowledge of a wide range of mathematics subject areas, including arithmetic equations, calculus, trigonometry, geometry, and other related areas
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles
  • Ability to lead a professional teaching staff in the area of mathematics
  • Knowledge of basic computer operations
  • Required Clearances include Criminal Background Clearance (Act 34), Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151), and FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Act 114), all dated within one year of receipt
  • Meets criteria for employment in a PA Public School
