POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
OFFICE: STATE PARK SERVICE
LOCATION: Colleton State Park
INTERNAL TITLE: Assistant Ranger
MINIMUM STARTING SALARY FOR NEW HIRE: Hourly Wage: $15/ Hour
This is a full time, NON- permanent field position, which works a forty-hour rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays as scheduled.
JOB PURPOSE:
Under general supervision, assists with overall park operation, administrative, and maintenance duties in accordance with the Department. Duties will include but are not limited to collecting and accounting for revenue, routine maintenance, and interpretation. Assist with operations to include public use areas, retail operations, and other park facilities. Assist with maintaining a safe work environment. Assist with programs that are designed to help educate public on cultural and natural resources of the State Park Service.
MINIMUM AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Associate's degree in Park Management or equivalent field. Or have a high school diploma with one (1) year of general park experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess or be able to obtain a valid South Carolina Driver's License. This position requires medium to heavy lifting, walking and standing on uneven terrain, crawling and working with heights. Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents and other materials used in maintaining park facilities and grounds. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
