Essential Functions
- Research and examine title to real property.
- Review real estate appraisals, prepare written offers to purchase real property interests, and negotiate with owners to obtain the most favorable terms for the County while still being fair to the property owner. Basic negotiating skills are required.
- Review legal descriptions and construction plans and explain to property owners, lenders, and attorneys exactly what the County intends to construct on the required property, and what impact it will have on the remaining property.
- Draft purchase agreements, executive summaries, exhibits, and agenda items for consideration by the Board of County Commissioners.
- Determine and prepare the appropriate legal documents to clear the title and complete the conveyance of real property interests. Basic knowledge of property law is a plus.
- Some fieldwork outside the office is required to inspect properties and to meet with property owners and their representatives.
Additional Functions
- Serves on committees and task forces as assigned.
- Performs general clerical work in support of assigned duties, including answering telephones, copying, and filing documents.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Associate degree required.
- Two (2) years of related experience performing administrative and technical work for property acquisition, sales, leasing, appraisals, or similar programs like paralegal.
- Candidates without a degree should possess two (2) additional years of related experience.
- Fingerprinting Required.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License with any applicable endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle as provided in CMA 5805.
- Salary offers above the minimum pay grade may be considered based on qualifications.
- Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared or declared emergency. The County’s Administrative Office will determine who will be required to work on an incident-by-incident basis.
