Job Summary
Collier County is looking for high school students to participate in our summer high school internship program with various County Divisions. The internship will run for six weeks, from June 3, 2025, to July 11, 2025.
Essential Functions
Under supervision, assists and participates in the work performed by employees of a specific profession; through participation, receives supervised work experience in a specific professional vocation; and performs other related duties as required.
The High School Intern will be assigned to a department or division for the purpose of attaining workplace learning experience and career readiness. The intern will have a start and end date, learning objectives, and a project or work assignments to complete as part of the internship. The intern will be evaluated by their supervisor and will complete a reflection of the experience and how it has helped shape their future.
Student interns will be paid on an hourly basis at $15.00/hour.
Work Functions May Include, But Are Not Limited To
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit and supporting student learning objectives.

Minimum Qualifications
Current high school student, age 16 (or must attain age 16 during intern assignment) or older, grades 10 through 12 or recent (within the current academic year) high school graduate or GED recipient.
Fingerprinting required.
Supplemental information
Individuals hired into temporary positions for a period of less than six months, volunteers and interns are not benefit eligible. Temporary employees hired for longer than six months may be eligible for Florida Retirement System Benefits as well as others required by law.

- Ask appropriate questions to understand work assignments and demonstrate hard work to meet deadlines and deliver quality outcomes.
- Completes structured activities to understand how departments and functions contribute to the entire County system.
- Write a reflection of the internship experience and how it has helped shape the students' future career pursuits.
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit and supporting student learning objectives.
