What are the responsibilities and job description for the Landscape Technician II -Irrigation - TMSD position at Collier County?
Performs specialized work associated with Irrigation operations and maintenance within the Road Maintenance Division.• Performs specialized maintenance work within an assigned County division, which may involve irrigation maintenance or other projects within the assigned division; assists skilled-trade employees or other workers as needed.
• Performs various tasks involving irrigation projects throughout the county to include providing water to the shrubs, turf and landscaped areas; Performs preventative maintenance, inspections, installation and repairs; replaces irrigation heads, valves, controller components; rewiring of low voltage irrigation; repairs to broken mainlines, and broken lateral lines; monitors controllers and automatic systems for proper operations and ensures proper programming of timers; troubleshoots system malfunctions and location of system leaks.
• Performs general/manual tasks associated with division projects; sets up safe work zones at work sites, places traffic cones/signs, and conducts traffic control as needed; sharpens blades and replaces parts; climbs ladders; sets up or arranges equipment for special events/activities; lifts/moves equipment and heavy materials; assists with cleanup following hurricanes, storms, or emergency situations.
• Operates a variety of machinery, equipment, and tools associated with division projects.
• Performs general cleaning/maintenance tasks necessary to keep equipment and tools in operable condition, which may include inspecting equipment, checking/replacing fluids, refueling vehicles, greasing equipment, washing/cleaning equipment, cleaning project work areas, or cleaning shop; monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety; reports faulty equipment.
• Transports, loads, and unloads equipment and materials used in projects; transports crew workers to/from work sites.
• Monitors inventory levels of supplies and materials; ensures availability of adequate supplies, tools, and materials to conduct work activities; initiates requests for new/replacement materials.
• Follows safety procedures, utilizes safety equipment, and monitors work environment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals.
• Responds to after-hours emergency calls when scheduled for on-call duty.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
• Aids other employees or divisions as needed.
• Performs other related duties as required.• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One (1) year of experience involving irrigation system maintenance or installation.
• Fingerprinting Required.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License with any applicable endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle as provided in CMA 5805.

- Salary offers above the minimum of the pay grade may be considered based on qualifications.
- Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared emergency and/or declared emergency. On an incident-by-incident basis, the County’s Administrative Office will make the determination as to who will be required to work.
