What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Service Technician I position at Collier County?
• Responsible for various aircraft ground support/line service functions, including but not limited to fueling, marshalling, parking, lavatory service, towing, luggage handling and various other customer service functions.
• Checks and adds proper oil in accordance with the specifications of the aircraft, as requested by customer.
• Checks tire pressure and perform lavatory services as requested.
• Tows aircraft to secure parking areas for departure using appropriate tug and tow equipment for specific aircraft.
• Directs aircraft to proper parking areas.
• Performs airfield and landside ground maintenance activities including mowing, edging, spraying, changing or repairing airport lighting system components, performing airport inspections, and assisting in airport operations.
• Performs airfield inspections in accordance with FDOT and FAA regulations and advises supervisors in writing of all noted discrepancies.
• Performs daily and monthly fuel truck safety inspections. Ensures vehicles are in safe operating order and running properly at the beginning of each shift.
• Ensures compliance with all Federal Aviation Administration and Florida Department of Transportation airport safety policies and regulations; oversees compliance with all Environmental Protection Agency, FDEP, and County regulations regarding fuel storage and fueling operations.
• Escorts various private and company personnel unfamiliar with the airport grounds as requested to ensure safety compliance.
• Assist with daily and monthly fuel farm inspections, including performing pre-loading and quality control inspections.
• Can perform airport morning opening and nightly closeout procedures and can conduct all pre-closing/opening inspections.
• Able to assist the Operations Desk with radio communication, credit card sales, rental car distribution, etc., as requested.
• Must show the ability to close a fuel sale without assistance by selling fuel to customer and processing the sale (using credit card machine, supplying receipts, etc.).
• Reviews and consults with updated operations manuals for various aircraft specifics, as needed.
• Operates a computer, printer, adding machine, aircraft tug/tow bars, painting machine, tractor bush hog, mowers, or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, to include the use of word processing, spreadsheet, Point of Sale (POS), database, or other system software.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
• Assists other employees or divisions, as needed.
• Performs a variety of cleaning tasks, including lavatory services.
• Assists with and responds to airport / aircraft emergencies in accordance with airport procedures.
• Removes foreign object debris (FOD) from airport surfaces.
• May be required to work holidays, weekends, and shifts outside normal business hours.
• Performs other related duties, as required.
• No experience required; six (6) months of prior customer service or related aviation experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of aircraft engines and the various fuel types is preferred.
• Fingerprinting required.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License with any applicable endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle, as provided in CMA 5805.

- Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared emergency and/or declared emergency. On an incident-by-incident basis, the County’s Administrative Office will make the determination as to who will be required to work.
