What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAD Technician position at Collier Engineering Co., Inc.?
Collier Engineering is seeking an experienced Civil CAD Technician to support our General Civil and Landscape Architecture Design Teams and help develop the department to align with Collier Engineering’s Vision of improving Middle Tennessee communities. We are looking for a driven individual with a background in civil engineering design work relating to designing and compiling drawings for infrastructure, civil site, and landscape architecture design. Additional experience in survey drafting in preparing boundary and topographic surveys and plats is a plus.
The ideal candidate will be ideal oriented with the ability to work independently while ensuring accuracy and have experience with Autodesk Civil 3D Software.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate reliability, ability to independently make judgement calls and take ownership of assigned tasks as well as be team oriented.
CAD Tech Desired Skills and Experience:
- 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred
- Knowledge of civil engineering, landscape architecture, and survey principles and practices and construction specifications, plans and regulations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential requirements.
- Flexible work schedule and ability to meet project deadlines.
- Valid Driver’s License
- The ability to qualify for insurance through our Fleet Program.
CAD Tech Additional Responsibilities:
- Provide drafting and design support for internal engineering, planning, and construction management services.
- Prepare working drawings from conceptual layout to detailed finished product.
- Assist with simple design calculations, calculate quantities, and review technical specifications.
- Perform quality control reviews of drafted deliverables.
- Maintain a culture of continuous improvement and problem solving.
CAD Tech Additional Requirements:
- Associate degree with 2-4 years CAD Technician/Drafter experience. Experience in Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, and Surveying.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD required. Experience in Civil3D with a working knowledge of Civil3D tools (alignments, surfaces, profiles, corridors, and parcels) preferred.
- Capable of using Microsoft Office suite with excellent communication skills.
- Ethical and professional in manner, attitude, and dress
- Ability to communicate and work with other team members to complete assigned tasks and meet deadlines.
- Must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the US. Collier Engineering will not sponsor or take over sponsorships of an employment Visa at this time.
