We are seeking an experienced, reliable substitute teacher to join our team of educators. In this position, you will be added to Collierville Schools preferred substitute list to work in the absence of our special education and occasionally regular education teachers, aiding students in their daily tasks and helping ensure the understanding of the subject matter being covered. The Substitute Teacher should possess the skills needed to implement daily instruction using provided lesson plans and run the classroom environment in a safe and orderly fashion in the absence of the regular teacher.

Duties and Responsibilities
Use materials provided to attain lesson goals
Accurately follows daily schedule established by the classroom teacher
Direct the classroom, accomplishing curriculum objectives and goals outlined in the lesson plans
Take attendance according to the procedures of the school, keep classroom and work orderly, and maintain normal classroom rhythms
Comply with all procedures, guidelines, and policies of the school at all times
Maintains a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
Assist students with self-help skills such as feeding, and toileting as needed
Maintains confidentiality and compliance with student information, including Individualized Education Programs and 504 Plans
Communicates with the classroom teacher essential information in regard to the students during the day of absence
Maintain a professional attitude in all manner of conduct with students, faculty, parents, and community members
Maintains a standard of performance and conduct as required by state, law, local board of education and community expectations
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
Perform other duties as directed by school administration as needed
Requirements and Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years of age to be eligible for substitute teaching.
College degree Required (Certified Positions)
Passing Score on Paraprofessional test for classified positions.
Certificate in teaching is a plus
Detail oriented and able to follow written and / or oral instructions
Able to communicate effectively with other personnel and faculty
Able to cultivate relationships with pupils in a brief time period
Confidence and capability in giving instruction in the absence of the regular teacher
Willing and able to work standing for most of the day with few breaks to sit
