Position Overview
Collin Street Bakery is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to join our Finance team. This position is responsible for overseeing and managing multiple aspects of accounting functions, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, compliance with applicable regulations, and providing valuable financial insights to support business decisions. This Accountant will work closely with the team and management to drive financial performance and contribute to the overall success of the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Help prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Assist in reconciling general ledger accounts, including bank accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and accounting regulations.
- Prepare and file sales tax returns and other regulatory filings.
- Assist with audits and liaise with external auditors during year-end audits.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying areas for cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining accounting software and systems.
- Provide assistance, guidance, and mentorship to other staff.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and accounting software (experience with QuickBooks or similar preferred).
- Experience with NetSuite ERP is a big plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience in the food production or manufacturing industry is a plus.
