Position Summary
The Life Enrichment Assistant provides group fitness and exercise classes to improve the overall well-being and fitness of community residents while also ensuring safe fitness and wellness instruction. They are committed to the philosophy of "Staying Healthy through Aging" and present programs related to exercise and nutrition to meet the senior population's physical, social, and emotional needs, aiming to increase and maintain a healthy quality of life.
Essential Functions
- Assist with many activity programs held daily to improve the quality of life through the promotion of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being
- Assist in planning the monthly calendar of activities and suggest ideas for future planning
- Communicate with the Activities and Wellness Manager regarding daily problems, concerns, and issues dealing with resident’s behavior
- Document attendance to activities and complete individual participation records
- Attend care plan when assigned
- Document inventory of supplies
- Attend administrative meetings as designated
- Collaborate with other staff members in conducting events
- Report any malfunctioning equipment to the proper department
- Provides instruction of group and individual session exercise classes, land and/or water, and assists residents with equipment usage
- Assists fitness coordinator with maintaining fitness equipment, storage spaces, and supplies inventory.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience conducting fitness/wellness activities for seniors
- Certification related to exercise preferred: ACE, ACSM, NASM, or NSCA
- Previous experience in arts/crafts and/or music highly desirable
- Aquatic Fitness Training/Certification preferred
- Current CPR, First Aid, and AED Certifications are required
