Collins Aerospace Aerostructures is looking for a Principal Equipment & Systems Engineer who will be a specialist for high temperature pneumatic valves and their integration into aircraft engines and nacelles. You will be knowledgeable in the design of latches and hold open rods. You will also have knowledge of equipment and design engineering along with qualification testing, system validation and verification will be required. In addition, you will be a focal point of contact for suppliers, customers, and internal leadership.
The position is working onsite at our Chula Vista CA.

What You Will Do
Manage the requirements, design, and qualification of pneumatic high temperature valves and anti-icing systems
Lead root cause investigations into technical issues for ball joints, latches, hold open rods and other nacelle structural components
Communicate with suppliers, external customers, and senior leadership regularly to discuss technical issues and resolution
Visit suppliers as required for process improvements, product enhancements, failure investigations and testing
Lead system architecture, supplier selection and technical assessment for new programs
Establish and mature relationships across departments for technical alignment, problem resolution and customer support (aftermarket, supply chain, program office, finance)
Communicate and make presentations to senior level leadership
Able to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally when circumstances permit
Perform other duties as required
Qualifications You Must Have
Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.

Experience with FAA air worthiness qualification testing
Qualifications We Prefer
Knowledge regarding turbine engines including compressor stages and bleed air
Experience working in a cross functional group of engineers
Experience with high cycle fatigue testing and analysis
Experience with RTCA DO160 testing
Understanding of LEAN/Continuous Improvement
Experience with aerospace control systems
