The Collins Aerospace Avionics Test Engineering organization is looking for a motivated individual to be a key Software Engineer assisting in developing complex engineering solutions. The Avionics Test Engineering organization is a global engineering organization responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the manufacturing test solutions in support of the $5B Avionics strategic business unit and external customers including armed services and airlines both domestic and international.  Typical test solutions include the configuration of COTS components such as switch systems, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, and other related equipment for testing circuit card assemblies and top-level products. 

What You Will Do:

  • Design and develop C# .NET solutions to support test engineering applications.
  • Develop test management software such as National Instruments TestStand to create automated test sequences.
  • Translate design requirements and use cases into functional applications.
  • Hold a solid understanding of driver development, DLLs creation, and handling managed and unmanaged code.
  • Integrate individual software applications into workable test systems.
  • Develop test software for new products and reverse engineering of legacy test solutions to rehost products.
  • Drive trade studies, prototype creation, and simulation for critical design concepts.
  • Develop verification and validation procedures for test software to ensure the system will perform as specified to meet customer and system requirements.
  • Create and review test engineering artifacts like design documents, test plans, user manuals, and related documents.
  • Mentor junior engineers.
  • 10% domestic and global travel may be required.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with manufacturing test equipment in a production or service center setting. 
  • Experience with Aviation products. 
  • Knowledge of communication protocols like Serial, Ethernet, CAN, or ARINC.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment – where priorities change.
  • Experience with tools for requirements management, configuration control, project servers, MS OFFICE, and Microsoft Visual Studio.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
