Principal Systems Engineer - Flight Simulation (Onsite)
This Systems Engineering position is within the Simulation and Training Solutions (STS) business area. STS develops and builds simulators and training systems for both military and commercial customers, with the primary focus being the defense industry. STS Training Device products cover a range of complexity and include desktop trainers, part task trainers, full-flight simulators, sophisticated maintenance training devices, high fidelity weapon system trainers and virtual training devices.
The Systems Engineer will serve as the Lead Systems Engineer responsible for incorporating E-2D mission system platform updates into the next generation flight, tactics, and maintenance training devices. This position requires an outgoing individual with a collaborative spirit, strong leadership credentials and teamwork skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the desire to embrace a challenge with a results-oriented team of Systems, Hardware and Software Engineers.
What You Will Do :
- Participate in technical interchange meetings and design working group meetings with customers, end users, platform OEM engineers, and subcontractors.
- Work with aircraft equipment OEM engineers to identify and request data in support of simulated aircraft systems development efforts.
- Interpret aircraft schematics and request data to support a working knowledge of aircraft systems.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop requirements to support the productization of new HW / SW systems.
- Requirements decomposition and system level design activities including performing operational concepts and system level modeling.
- Provide guidance and support to the development team and Test Engineers throughout the program lifecycle.
- Mentor young engineers to cultivate a culture of ownership, accountability, innovation, and technical excellence.
- Provide status updates to Cost Account Managers.
- Provide inputs and support to the new business bid process.
- Collaborate with Project Engineers and Program Managers throughout the project lifecycle to ensure effective technical communication.
- Collaborate with Program Chiefs to realize the product roadmap and long-term vision.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education / training, and key skills.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
