The Mission Engineering organization within Collins Aerospace is seeking a Systems Engineer to support our Mission Engineering / Operations Analysis projects. With Mission Engineering, we focus on the operational needs of the customer and how our solutions can fit those needs. We model complex threat environments, then develop and integrate advanced simulation and analysis tools to effectively capture system performance in those environments. We generate quantitative results to demonstrate the operational benefit of our products and system solutions, focus further technology investment, and refine architectural approaches and requirements. We work within the context of a given operational mission, including understanding the overall concept, scenarios, and relevant mission threads as well as understanding the factors that may influence the mission in addition to technology (doctrine, processes, training, etc.).
The successful candidate will be part of a distributed team composed of professionals from several disciplines and must have the ability to function well, both alone and with others, and have strong interpersonal skills. This candidate will have demonstrated experience ascertaining the competitive landscape of the technologies under study and strategic intent of a study. The successful candidate will have demonstrated understanding of customer need, problem solving, creativity and innovation, communications, team building, relationship management, operational oversight, and accountability. This candidate will understand how a collection of unique systems integrate together to provide a unique capability for the mission. This includes knowledge of mission capabilities, tasks, interfaces, information flow between systems. This position may require occasional travel (up to 20%.). This position does require that candidate has a final US DoD security clearance in order to access classified information.

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

What You Will Do:
- Define Mission Engineering/Operational Analysis study requirements & priority needed to meet study objectives
- Decompose missions to define necessary simulation components
- Resolve mission/threat questions encountered through study execution
- Engage with operators to decompose missions
- Lead Non-Advocate Review activities and vector checks
- Lead analysis activities
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance is required prior to start date
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Capable of estimating, tracking, and communicating cost, schedule, and risk
- Experience in concepts such as CONOPS, system tradeoffs, threat definitions, and system of system assessments
- Experience developing and executing executive level presentations
- Experience working within the Mission Engineering and/or Operations Analysis discipline
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
- SCI eligibility Preferred
- Prior experience working in SAP spaces preferred
- Ability to navigate complex and ambiguous situations with limited data, making sound decisions based on judgment, experience, and strategic insight.
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly build breadth into new technology areas
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks and lead technical efforts spanning multiple stakeholders, and be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
- Background in military operations and tactics
- Experience with Nuclear Command and Control (NC3) systems and operations
- Experience with Modeling and Simulation tools such as Rapid Campaign Analysis and Demonstration Environment (RCADE), Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM), Next Generation Threat Simulation (NGTS), or ExtendSIM
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python or MATLAB
- Exceptional communication skills
- Ability to perform with minimal direct supervisory support
- Experience with Numerical Optimization Techniques, Analysis of Alternatives, or Design of Experiments
- Experience with executing Research and Development / Science and Technology Programs, delivering new technologies to internal and external customers
- Familiarity with configuration management (GIT, subversion)
- Ability to understand tactics as described by military experts and to represent their employment (verbally, graphically, and in simulations)
