What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wheel Paint and Assembly Operator 3rd Shift (Onsite) position at Collins Aerospace?
Currently our Troy, OH Wheel & Brakes production site has multiple opportunities open for 3rd Shift Wheel Paint and Assembly Operator. This role will be based onsite at our Troy production facility and will be part of the UAW union.
Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
Location: Onsite at Wheel & Brake Facility in Troy, OH
3rd Shift: Monday to Friday 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM.
Primary Responsibilities:
Receive job assignment, quantity of pieces, and any special instructions from supervisor;
- read standard operating procedure and operating sheet;
- clean parts;
- set torque wrenches;
- assemble wheels and their components;
- test wheels;
- stamp information on tags or pads;
- notify supervisor of stock needs or machine problems;
- record transactions/quality data, immediately report machine or process problems to supervisor;
- check parts to pick list as required;
- torque all application as required;
- retrieve parts from warehouse;
- clean and maintain work areas, machines, auxiliary equipment and common ground in cell/area utilizing appropriate equipment, so as to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment.
- Check and maintain operating levels of fluids and required machine materials.
- Wipe, sand, and clean parts as necessary.
- Mask and plug parts as required and touch up paint as required.
- Perform duties necessary to prepare wheels and wheel component parts for shipment, including but no limited to packaging, counting, weighing, labeling, and completing appropriate paperwork.
- Move material between workstations and cells/areas as dictated by the manufacturing cell/area configuration and the nature of the part (by hand truck, hoist, robot assist, etc.); - aside discrepant parts.
- Attend training classes, cell meetings and perform miscellaneous operations as assigned in support of Wheel Assembly.
Physical Requirements:
- Wearing of all personal protective equipment as required.
- In addition to the items subsumed in the job duties above, it should be noted that this position requires substantial reaching and moving while standing, lifting up to 50 lbs., twisting, stooping, and listening for sounds associated to the work environment.

EHS Requirements:
- Adherence to all EH&S roles and responsibilities as stated in manufacturing work instructions and EHS policies and procedures is required.
Basic Qualifications:
- HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working in warehouse environment
- Prior experience working in manufacturing environment
