Job Responsibilities:
- Support in the billing process for large commercial clients, ensuring accurate premium calculations, policy billing, and payments.
- Prepare and assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Perform reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts, ensuring that discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly
- Provide detailed reports, analytics and reconciliations for various financial data for the Commercial Lines and Risk Control Departments.
- Analyze and maintain records for various agreements & agency contracts.
- Prepare monthly commission statements for applicable team members.
- Assist in maintaining the general ledger by recording journal entries, reconciling discrepancies, and supporting month-end close activities.
- Maintain agency billing platform/timekeeper as related to financial analysis.
- Review and enter direct bill transactions
- Review and process carrier payables
- Assist in the preparation of corporate tax return and year-end adjustments.
- General filing/scanning
Required Qualifications:
- Experience using Microsoft Excel
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail oriented and accurate
- Maintains confidentiality of all information related to clients, customers, employees, carriers, or as appropriate, other information
- Consistently reports to work on time prepared to perform duties of position
- Eager to learn, flexible and interested in the company’s future success
Preferred Skills:
- 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in an insurance brokerage or commercial insurance environment.
- A minimum of an associate degree in finance or accounting
- Experience working within an insurance agency
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Agency Management System and related programs (EPIC)
- QuickBooks
- Telephone; Fax; Copier; Printer
Additional Details:
- The location of the role will be in person in our Grand Rapids, Michigan office
- Hours for the role is as follows: 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday – Thursday, 8:00am – 4:30pm Friday (Memorial Day through Labor Day we close at 4:00pm on Friday)
- Reporting relationship will be to Director of Operations & Finance
