Collins Home is seeking an energetic and organized individual to serve on a relief houseparent team that will work weekends - including overnights - from 8:00 AM on Thursdays through 8:00 PM on Sundays. The Relief House Parent plays a vital role in providing a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for children and adolescents in a residential setting. This position involves overseeing daily activities, ensuring the well-being of residents, and fostering positive relationships while promoting personal growth and development. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to supporting individuals with diverse needs.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and support residents (up to 8 in each home) in daily living activities, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, chores in the home etc.
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive interactions among residents.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to residents, helping them navigate challenges and conflicts.
- Maintain accurate records of residents' progress, behaviors, medicines distributed and any incidents that occur.
- Transportation to and from school, appointments and recreation.
- Engage in recreational activities that promote socialization and skill development among residents.
- Ensure the safety and security of the living environment by adhering to established protocols.
- Assist with maintenance of the home including but not limited to cooking meals, doing laundry, cleaning the home (including bathrooms), etc.
Requirements
- Experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and staff members.
- A compassionate demeanor with a commitment to promoting the well-being of all residents.
- Have a high school diploma or beyond
- At least 1 year of previous childcare experience
- Valid South Carolina driver’s license with clean driving record
- Be able to pass all applicable background checks
Pay: Salary commensurate with experience
