Position Summary
Collision Bend Brewing Company is seeking an experienced Brewer to join our team and help produce our lineup of high-quality craft beers. In this role, you will oversee and execute all aspects of the brewing process, from mashing and boiling to fermentation and packaging, while ensuring consistency and excellence in every batch. Our ideal candidate is a detail-oriented team player with a strong work ethic, a commitment to cleanliness and safety, and 1-2 years of professional brewing experience in a commercial brewery or production facility.
Responsibilities
- Operate brewing equipment (mash tun, brew kettle, fermenters, brite tanks) to produce beer according to recipes and production schedules
- Monitor and manage the fermentation process, including recording gravities, temperatures, and other quality metrics throughout each batch
- Clean and sanitize all brewing equipment, tanks, and work areas using CIP (Clean-In-Place) procedures to maintain a sanitary brewing environment
- Handle raw materials such as malt, hops, and yeast; mill grain and prepare ingredients for brew days
- Transfer wort and beer between vessels (e.g., from kettle to fermenter, fermenter to brite tank) safely and efficiently
- Perform cellar duties such as yeast pitching, yeast harvesting, dry hopping, and monitoring beer conditioning
- Assist with packaging operations, including kegging beer and preparing batches for canning
- Maintain accurate brewing records and logs for each batch, documenting all ingredients, processes, and measurements
- Ensure quality control standards are met at every stage (e.g., sensory evaluation, checking for off-flavors or inconsistencies)
- Uphold a clean, safe, and organized brewery work environment at all times, following all safety protocols and using required protective equipment
- Collaborate with the Head of Brewing Operations and brewing team to troubleshoot any issues, improve processes, and meet production goals
Required Qualifications
- 1-2 years of professional brewing experience in a commercial brewery
- Solid understanding of brewing processes and brewhouse operations (brewing, fermentation, cellaring, sanitation, etc)
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects repeatedly (e.g., 55 lb bags of grain) and to maneuver full kegs (~165 lbs) with assistance
- Capable of standing, walking, bending, and performing physical labor for extended periods
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule as needed
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining product quality and workplace safety
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with the brewing and operations team
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal education or certification in brewing or fermentation science
- Familiarity with brewery management software (Ollie Ops) and basic computer skills for record-keeping
- Forklift operation experience or certification
- Mechanical aptitude for basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of a wide variety of beer styles and sensory analysis techniques
- Passion for craft beer and a desire to continually learn and grow in the brewing field
