School Building Administrative Assistant - Elementary
Pay Grade: Administrative Assistant
Period of Employment: 12 Months FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Supervised by and/or Reports to: School Principal
General Responsibilities: To perform responsible clerical and routine technical duties and to assist faculty, staff, and administrators within the assigned school building.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Provides World-Class customer service to all stakeholders
- Answers all telephone calls, disseminates information as received to the appropriate individuals
- Greets all visitors and routes all visitors to the appropriate individuals
- Directs families to appropriate CBPS and community resources for information and resolution of concerns
- Handles all correspondence as requested by students, families, staff, and administration
- Maintains confidentiality by protecting the privacy of faculty, staff, students, and parents; handles sensitive information responsibly; and follows all school policies and laws
- Operates standard office equipment
- Works effectively with staff and administration to handle all requests for assistance
- Assists with staff leave requests and coordinates substitute coverage to ensure smooth daily operations
- Corresponds with other institutions and parents in order to keep all records complete and up-to-date
- Researches a variety of information for the purpose of providing information and/or addressing variety of administrative requirements
- Serves as the Building Principal Administrative Assistant
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Requisite Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships with a range of stakeholders and people from diverse life experiences.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of school administration
- Ability to develop and present ideas and information effectively, orally and in written form
- Time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
- Attention to detail and problem solving skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with principals, school staff and administrators, and families of CBPS
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements:
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to: a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions. Some heavy work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects may be required.
