Job Description
Colonial Behavioral Health provides opportunities for recovery to individuals and their family members in the areas of mental illness, substance use disorder, and developmental disabilities. Colonial Behavioral Health serves the citizens of James City County, City of Poquoson, City of Williamsburg, and York County.
We are currently recruiting for a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist position within our Adult Outpatient program. This position works with individuals with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorder with linking, referring, monitoring needed services and supports necessary to meeting basic needs.Job Duties
- Administers Recovery surveys to consumers, family members, employees, and stakeholders.
- Assists with linking CSB consumers and family members to agency and community resources, assistance to consumers engaged in services, and development of needed consumer supports.
- Provides or facilitates consumer education, and assists the consumer in understanding recovery services.
- Other duties as assigned.

Hours may vary based on programs needs.
Qualifications (EEO)
Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to positively interact with persons with mental illness, substance use disorders and developmental disabilities, their family members, agency staff and community members.
- Must possess good personal management skills – time management, organization, dependability and independence.
- Ability to provide active listening, education and assistive supports to consumers and family members.
- One year of work experience in behavioral health services or with behavioral required.
- At least two years of psychiatric stability and/or sobriety and completion of peer based recovery specialized training. required
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
