Job Description
Colonial Behavioral Health provides opportunities for recovery to individuals and their family members in the areas of mental illness, substance use disorder, and developmental disabilities. Colonial Behavioral Health serves the citizens of James City County, City of Poquoson, City of Williamsburg, and York County.
We are currently recruiting for a Direct Support Professional within our Residential program. This position works with individuals with Developmental Disabilities encouraging them to live independent and productive lives.
Job Duties
Job Responsibilities
- Performs personal care tasks, including assistance with basic hygiene care to include grooming, feeding, ambulation, medical monitoring, and other health care related tasks.
- Documents any services provided
- Plans meals, shopping for groceries, preparing and serving food/meals, and feeding.
- Assists with accompanies clients to scheduled appointments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule
This position offers differentials for evening, overnight, and weekend shifts.

- Must have the ability to work in a group home, home-like setting
- Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to handle physical aspects of job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time.
- Work experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
