The Chemical Production Planner is responsible for ensuring the efficient and timely planning, scheduling, and coordination of chemical production activities. This role will work closely with production teams, procurement, quality control, and supply chain departments to ensure that manufacturing operations meet production goals, adhere to safety standards, and are aligned with customer demand and inventory requirements.

The Chemical Production Planner is responsible for ensuring the efficient and timely planning, scheduling, and coordination of chemical production activities. This role will work closely with production teams, procurement, quality control, and supply chain departments to ensure that manufacturing operations meet production goals, adhere to safety standards, and are aligned with customer demand and inventory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Planning: Develop and manage daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules for chemical manufacturing processes based on customer demand, inventory levels, and production capacity.
- Resource Allocation: Ensure optimal use of raw materials, labor, and equipment to meet production goals while minimizing waste and downtime.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and manage raw material and finished goods inventory levels to prevent stockouts or overstock situations. Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Coordination: Work cross-functionally with procurement, production, and quality teams to ensure timely availability of materials and resources. Facilitate communication between departments to resolve any issues impacting production.
- Demand Forecasting: Collaborate with the sales and logistics teams to forecast demand and adjust production plans accordingly to meet customer requirements.
- Capacity Planning: Assess plant capacity and production constraints to develop feasible production schedules that optimize efficiency and throughput.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline operations and improve production efficiency through process improvements, automation, and lean manufacturing techniques.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure that all production planning processes comply with industry standards, environmental regulations, and workplace safety protocols. Monitor adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other regulatory guidelines.
- Reporting: Provide regular reports on production performance, including production output, material usage, downtime, and inventory levels. Identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Troubleshooting: Address and resolve any scheduling or production issues that arise, including raw material shortages, equipment breakdowns, or labor shortages.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in production planning or manufacturing in the chemical industry or a similar environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in production planning software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Excel) and strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with chemical production processes, safety standards, and regulatory compliance requirements (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify issues and implement solutions quickly and effectively.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and report on production performance.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate records and schedules.
- Certifications: APICS CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) or similar certifications are a plus.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is desirable.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to use standard office equipment (computers, phones, etc.).
- Occasional visits to the production floor may be required.
