Description
ANTICIPATED OPENING - Long term substitute Remedial Teacher serving Moravian Academy and Bethlehem Christian - Ebenezer in Bethlehem. Position available for the 2025-2026 School Year.
Provide teaching and consulting services necessary to maintain the effective functioning of the Act 89/ Title I remedial program at the elementary level in the nonpublic schools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To identify students eligible for the program by means of standardized school administered test scores, diagnostic assessments, previous placement in the Act 89/Title I program, and classroom teacher/principal recommendation.
2. To formally assess the needs of each student by benchmark testing that will confirm final selection of students for the program.
3. To use additional formal and informal measures, as indicated by data on hand, to define specific content and skills that require remediation.
4. To provide each student with a data driven individual prescription with stated goal(s) and objectives that scaffold into lessons that will result in meaningful progress or achievement of the goal(s).
5. To plan and implement remedial reading and mathematics programs which will provide targeted individualized instruction, based on program diagnostic data in a positive learning environment that will result in making meaningful progress or reach classroom placement level

7. To assist in the selection and use of instructional materials and equipment.
8. To assist in the preparation of forms, letters, etc., applicable to the Act 89/Title I remediation program and to disseminate information relative to the Act 89 Title I remediation program.
9. To communicate with the nonpublic school's regular classroom teacher(s), administrator(s) and parents regarding the scheduling, attendance, and progress (academic and behavioral) of students in the Act 89/Title I remediation program.
10. To assist the Supervisor of Professional Learning and Auxiliary Services in related functions involving the Auxiliary Services of Colonial Intermediate Unit 20.
11. To function as a member of one of the three staff committees, (reading, mathematics, or technology) and complete curriculum work under the direction of the committee chairperson.
12. To participate as a member/consultant of the Student Intervention Team at each assigned school.
13. To provide Title I instruction to eligible students following Title I regulations and directives and to respond to requests from coordinators of contracting school districts with information and data concerning the students served.
OTHER MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Function as a member of the IU wide Student Intervention Team training Process when applicable.
2. Promote a positive image of the Intermediate Unit and the nonpublic Schools.
3. Demonstrate the willingness to assist other employes with their work.
4. Stay current in all aspects of the practice of teaching remedial reading and remedial mathematics.
5. Demonstrate proficiency in the use of all technology applications and skills incorporated in the professional duties of the Act 89/Title I remediation program.

If you are recommended as a finalist for a position, you will need to have all credentials (3 Clearances, School Personnel Health Record) submitted in order to be recommended to the Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 Board of Directors for hire. This will include completing an Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9 and showing originals of documents you wish to submit to establish employment identity and work authorization. This will be handled through the Recruitment Office.
School Personnel Health Form – READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION.
This form is not required for you to be an active candidate. Please DO NOT have the form completed unless you are directed by a recommending administrator or the Human Resources Office.
If you are recommended as a finalist for a position, you will be required to have a pre-employment medical examination – physical and tuberculosis (TB) test. All results (physical and TB) must be recorded on the School Personnel Health Record. No other forms are acceptable. The physical and TB are at your own expense. If the physical is performed by a Physician’s Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, the Physician must also sign; the TB test may be done by a physician or licensed health care provider. All areas of the physical and TB test must be completed, signed, and properly dated.
Physical and TB results within the last three months of receipt will be accepted if they are recorded on the School Personnel Health Record. Dates of results longer than three months of our receipt will not be accepted.
Selected candidates for IU20 positions will be required to produce state mandated background clearances and fraud checks as part of the employment onboarding process. All recommendations for hire shall be contingent upon receipt of acceptable clearances and fraud checks. The clearances and checks will be treated confidentially.
