Duties
- Assist in the development and execution of engaging recreational programs tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Facilitate group activities such as games, arts and crafts, music therapy, and exercise sessions.
- Provide one-on-one support to residents who may require additional assistance or encouragement to participate in activities.
- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment by ensuring all equipment is in good condition and that safety protocols are followed.
- Document participation levels and resident feedback to help evaluate the effectiveness of activities.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to address individual resident needs related to aging issues and memory care.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members to promote a sense of community and belonging.
Skills
- Knowledge or experience in recreational therapy or caregiving is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with dementia care practices and memory care techniques.
- Strong schedule management skills to effectively plan and coordinate activities.
