Job Summary:
Must be able to adapt to changes in a fast-paced work environment. Exemplary telephone etiquette and customer service skills are required. Must possess analytical skills to gather and interpret routine data, maintain semi-complex records and organize work. Ability to communicate clearly. Working knowledge of Windows office systems and all office equipment is preferred. The Nursing Department Assistant Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing. This position's main purpose is to serve as an active member of the interdisciplinary team, advocate for resident rights, completes inventory, complete the schedules for CNA/TMA, LPNs and RNs, and assist with resident needs. The Nursing Department Assistant Coordinator works cooperatively and is flexible with all team members, including the Director of Nursing and Administrator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School Education is preferred.
· A minimum of 1 year experience in long-term care is preferred.
· Must be 18 years of age or older.
· Excellent communication skills – able to read, write and communicate in English.
· Must be able to foster relationships with employees and outside vendors and personnel.
· Good health and neat appearance.
· Must be self-motivated and hard working.
· Able to understand and be capable of following directions.
· Capable of self-direction in performance of assigned tasks.
· Able to function effectively as a member of the nursing team and to demonstrate accuracy, reliability, and dependability.
· Able to maintain effective interpersonal relationships with residents, family members and staff at Colonial Manor while under challenging events.
· Able to work effectively with Microsoft Word, Excel programs, Inovalon, and telephone.
TASKS PERFORMED:
1. Meet weekly with Director of Nursing to discuss current staffing for the week and status changes. Maintain a positive, teamwork environment.
2. Assist with the CNA/TMA, LPN and RN nursing schedules. Approve shift pick-up, shift trades, PTO requests. Back fill open shifts, assist with call-ins.
3. Track Nursing Department Attendance
4. Schedule resident appointments.
5. Schedule resident transportation to appointments.
6. Be active in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) meetings as asked or required to improve scheduling processes.
7. Assists with orientation for CNA/TMA.
8. Assist with coordinating CNA/TMA classes.
9. Track supply inventory and assist DON with supply ordering.
10. Attends meetings and in-services per Colonial Manor policies.
11. Supports confidentiality and is responsible for resident right to privacy as it relates to his/her medical care, social, religious, and psychological well-being.
12. Scan residents’ orders, correspondence from medical providers, bath aide sheets, admissions, and discharge paperwork into resident charts.
13. Record appropriate resident identification data on designated medical records (e.g., labels).
14. Prepare for physician rounds according to facility procedure.
15. Transcribe physicians’ orders to medication records, treatment plans, etc., as required.
16. Review medication records for completeness of information, accuracy in the transcription of the physician's order, per facility procedure
17. Is knowledgeable of safety policies and emergency codes.
18. Performs other duties assigned by the Floor Nurse, RN Case Manager, Director of Nursing or Administrator as delegated.
19. Cooperates with Minnesota Department of Health or other government agencies.
20. Other duties as assigned.
