Job Overview :
We are seeking an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Designer / Drafter to support the design and development of a new government facility construction project in Tullahoma, TN. The ideal candidate will have experience in instrumentation, control systems, and electrical drafting for large-scale infrastructure projects. This role involves collaborating with engineers and project teams to develop detailed drawings, schematics, and documentation for control systems, instrumentation, and related electrical components.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and modify I&C design drawings, including wiring diagrams, P&IDs, loop diagrams, control panel layouts, and instrument installation details.
- Work closely with engineers and project teams to ensure design accuracy and compliance with government specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Utilize AutoCAD to create detailed drawings for instrumentation and control systems.
- Assist in selecting appropriate instrumentation, sensors, and control devices for process control applications.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, ISA, IEEE, and government standards for instrumentation and control design.
- Perform field verification of designs and coordinate with construction teams to address design changes.
- Support the development of technical documentation, including bill of materials (BOM), equipment lists, and installation guidelines.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and project managers, to align design efforts with project goals.
Qualifications :
Experience : Minimum 5 years of experience in I&C design and drafting, preferably for government or industrial projects.
Education : Associate’s degree or certification in Electrical Design, Drafting, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required).
Software Proficiency : Strong experience with AutoCAD
Technical Knowledge : Understanding of control systems, PLCs, SCADA, instrumentation devices, and industrial automation.
Standards & Compliance : Knowledge of ISA, NEC, NFPA, and IEEE standards related to instrumentation and control systems.
Communication Skills : Strong ability to work in a team environment and effectively communicate design intent to engineers, contractors, and government officials.
Security Clearance : Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance, if required for the project.
