We are looking for a skilled lead MA with strong organizational, problem solving and team building qualities for our family practice office. A Lead Medical Assistant is a key member of the healthcare team, responsible for providing administrative and clinical support in a medical facility. They play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the medical office or clinic. As a lead, they are also tasked with supervising and guiding other medical assistants in their daily tasks.
Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
Assist healthcare providers (physicians, nurses, etc.) in patient examinations and procedures.
Take and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiratory rate.
Prepare patients for medical procedures and examinations.
Administer medications and vaccines as directed by the healthcare provider.
Collect and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
Perform basic medical tests, such as ECGs, spirometry, or blood glucose monitoring.
Ensure that medical equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
Administrative Duties:
Schedule patient appointments and manage the medical facility's calendar.
Maintain electronic health records (EHR) and patient databases accurately.
Handle patient registration, insurance verification, and billing procedures.
Manage medical records, including filing, organizing, and updating information.
Handle incoming and outgoing communications, including phone calls and emails.
Leadership and Supervision:
Oversee and coordinate the work of other medical assistants in the facility.
Train new medical assistants on administrative and clinical tasks.
Provide guidance and support to other medical assistants, fostering a positive team dynamic.
Monitor and maintain inventory of medical supplies and ensure restocking when necessary.
Evaluate the performance of subordinate medical assistants and provide constructive feedback.
Patient Education:
Educate patients on medical procedures, treatments, and follow-up care.
Offer guidance on managing chronic conditions and adopting healthy lifestyle habits.
Answer patient questions regarding treatment plans and medications.
Infection Control and Safety:
Adhere to proper infection control protocols to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and safety standards.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a medical assistant training program is preferred.
Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is desirable.
Proven experience as a medical assistant or in a similar healthcare role.
Excellent knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other medical software.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills to handle various responsibilities efficiently.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and colleagues effectively.
Leadership qualities and the ability to guide and support a team of medical assistants
