What are the responsibilities and job description for the Art Instructor position at Color Wheel Studio?
Join our team of artists! We are an art studio that provides after school classes for kids ages 5 -12 years old. We are looking for dynamic, creative and engaging Art Instructors to join our team for afternoon classes as well as select evening and weekends. Our studio hosts classes in Drawing, Painting, Ceramics (hand building and wheel), Printmaking, Textiles and Multimedia.
After School Art Instructor positions are 30 hours per week, Monday-Friday and consists of afternoon and evening hours from 12 : 30pm – 6 : 30pm (30 hours) . During School breaks, the position becomes a 40 hour week and classes become full day instruction with a paid hour break for lunch. School Break hours of instruction range from 8am-4pm or 10am-6pm for instruction. Some additional hours required for planning and operational details throughout the day. Some weekend or evenings may be required. Teen and adult classes are a separate, optional opportunity for current teachers to take advantage of in addition to the afternoon teaching role.
Classes are for elementary aged students in a dynamic art studio environment. It requires all aspects of working with the studio team in the summer and after-school program during the school year. The position includes curriculum planning, art instruction, transportation, free time supervision and general studio maintenance.
BFA in an art medium or Art Education degree and experience working with elementary and middle school students is preferred. We are currently seeking candidates with skills in Ceramics or a strong desire to learn more about the Ceramic Arts. Classes are primarily hand building and glazing focused but knowledge for throwing on the wheel is a plus. Candidates should have a love for working with children as well as working in a creative environment, as a team member.
