Overview:
We are seeking dedicated and passionate Preschool Substitute Teachers to join our team. As a Substitute Teacher, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of our youngest learners by providing quality care, education, and support in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Duties:
- Follow lesson plans, schedules, and instructions provided by the absent preschool teacher.
- Maintain a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment for preschool-aged children.
- Implement classroom management strategies appropriate for young children to ensure their safety and participation.
- Deliver age-appropriate instruction in foundational subjects, including early literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional skills.
- Provide individualized support and attention to children with special needs or developmental delays.
- Assist with daily routines such as snack time, rest time, and outdoor play.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure continuity of care and instruction.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and any incidents or observations.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding daily activities and any concerns.
Skills:
- Experience working with preschool-aged children in an educational or childcare setting.
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles, including play-based learning and age-appropriate curriculum.
- Familiarity with classroom management strategies tailored to young learners.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different classroom settings and meet the needs of diverse students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to connect with young children and collaborate with parents and staff.
- Patience, creativity, and a nurturing attitude toward working with preschool-aged children.
Requirements for Colorado:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred).
- Completion of required training in CPR, First Aid, and Universal Precautions (or willingness to obtain).
- Must meet Colorado’s Department of Human Services licensing requirements, which may include completion of specific ECE courses or certifications.
- Must pass a background check and fingerprint clearance per Colorado state regulations.
- Previous experience as a substitute teacher, teaching assistant, or in a similar role with preschool-aged children (preferred).
- Flexibility to work on short notice and adapt to various classroom environments.
