An eligible list established with this recruitment will be used to fill two (2) positions and may be used to fill other similar positions within the Colorado Department of Public Safety in the next 12 months.

About the Work UnitThe Executive Director’s Office (EDO) supervises all divisions, develops the department’s budget and policies, provides liaison to the Colorado General Assembly, helps members of the public determine what CDPS office can provide assistance to them, supervises payroll and procurement services within the department and works with the Office of the Governor to carry out the mission of the department. Key Responsibilities
CDPS is seeking a Digital Accessibility and Website Specialist to ensure that the organization's digital products and services are accessible to everyone. Your expertise is needed to conduct accessibility audits and reviews on our Division of Criminal Justice (DCJ) and Division of Fire Prevention & Control (DFPC) websites.
- Assisting with or leading the inventory, redevelopment and implementation of the public-facing CDPS website.
- Assisting with or leading the inventory, redevelopment and implementation of the internal-facing CDPS and DCJ/DFPC Intranet sites including combining the two sites into one.
- Ensuring digital accessibility of internal and external CDPS DCJ/DFPC Department websites.
- Assisting with website support across the Department to help with issues, general maintenance and updates, etc.
- Provide support to DCJ, DFPC, and possibly CDPS Divisions by reviewing, editing and updating website content to meet current Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), accessibility standards and accessibility best practices.
- Manage manual testing of DCJ/DFPC and possibly CDPS websites to identify and remediate pages, content, and features that fail to meet accessibility standards or best practices.
- Directly implement edits to DCJ/DFPC websites, using content management systems and/or web coding, to achieve compliance with accessibility standards as defined by HB21-1110.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
Proven Experience, Knowledge, Skills
Two (2) years of experience in website creation and maintenance, with activities that include digital accessibility responsibilities.
OR Education and Experience, Knowledge, Skills
A combination of related education and one (1) year of experience in website creation and maintenance, with activities that include digital accessibility responsibilities.
Desired Competencies
- Clear verbal communication, active listening, written communication, and reading comprehension.
- Excellent interpersonal skills in building and maintaining effective relationships with a wide range of people and interpersonal styles.
- Proven experience applying fundamentals and techniques of creating and producing accessible web pages, online forms, and digital media; development, assessment, and remediation of accessible web pages; accessibility testing tools or combination thereof.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Requires successful completion of a background investigation, polygraph and fingerprint screening as a condition of employment, unless completed at the time of initial appointment.
