What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler II (Storeroom) - Pueblo position at Colorado Department of Transportation?
New employees to the State will be paid biweekly. There are 26 biweekly pay periods in a year.
About the Position
CDOT's Materials Handler II position, located in Region 2- Pueblo, provides support to the maintenance staff by maintaining stockroom, ordering supplies, providing supplies to maintenance employees, following procurement rules and regulations and working with vendors to make sure orders are fulfilled correctly. The position orders, inspects, counts, stores, and issues materials to the maintenance staff to ensure continued operation of the Region.
Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Stock Management
- Determine and monitor order point and levels of stock quantity to be ordered and purchased for storeroom supply.
- Develop and regulate inventory and quality control procedures.
- Use state contracts, open end purchase contracts, field purchase orders, lowest bidder award and supply request forms to acquire merchandise from either commercial or other transportation agencies.
Receiving
- Receive and check incoming materials again invoices, then send invoice to be paid by the business office.
- Check for discrepancies and work with vendors to set up delivery schedules.
- Update inventory in SAP and stock shelves.
Supply Request Processing
- Research best price for materials based on procurement rules and price agreements.
- Work with maintenance staff to fill orders and process emergency orders.
- Prep outgoing orders for accuracy.
Data Entry
- Utilize SAP to create purchase requisitions, record inventory, material lists, goods movement, reservation lists, warehouse stock lists, stock replenishment, storeroom reports, vendor line items, and park documents to ensure proper inventories are maintained.
- Ensure outgoing materials are properly recorded, and all items are accurately priced and expensed to the proper cost center.
Inventory Control
- Use computer program to accurately track inventory levels, coordinate with regions when material is under / over stocked.
- Recommend and coordinate selling out of date materials and materials that can no longer be used to salvage
- Use Computer Program for Materials Resource Planning which helps to maintain the proper number of supplies
- Perform in depth inventory once a year.
Assist with Snow Removal and Facility Maintenance of R2 HQ
- Assist groundskeeper by operating large and small blowers, snow blades and shovels to remove snow and ice from sidewalks, drive paths and parking areas.
- On occasion, will assist with landscaping activities such as mowing, tree trimming, sprinkler system maintenance etc.
- Assist Structural Trades II with building maintenance such as HVAC maintenance, plumbing, some electrical, drywall etc.
Work Environment:
- Primarily 8:00 am – 5:00 pm work hours, Monday-Friday;
- May be required to work weekends, nights, and holidays during emergencies;
- Required to report without delay or interruption to provide essential emergency services to ensure health, safety, and welfare;
- Approximately 50% spent in the field, 50% spent in the office;
- Travel required during work hours throughout the Pueblo area;
- Occasional overnight travel 1-3 times a year throughout Colorado;
- Required to operate CDOT vehicles;
- Required to lift items 20-50 lbs. regularly and sometimes in excess of 100 lbs. (50 lbs. is the maximum checked luggage weight on airlines);
- This position may be in close proximity to moving and mechanical parts;
- May be exposed to a number of weather conditions during shipping and receiving, as well possibly being exposed to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, dust, odors, etc.
