About the Position
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has an opening for a full-time Technician III in our Grand Junction Planning and Environmental Unit. This position assists the Planning and Environmental Unit Manager with management of the environmental compliance process for projects, including but not limited to performing HazWaste clearances (ISAs) for projects, distributes National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents (mainly 128 forms) when completed as needed and also Form 463s, maintains the Unit's environmental database, assists in the completion of Intergovernmental Agreements (IGAs), makes travel arrangements for Unit staff, completes purchasing, and performs other support duties for the Unit. Management of the environmental compliance process will require the incumbent to help ensure that deadlines are met
Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist the Unit Manager and staff with ensuring environmental compliance requirements are met for State and federally funded transportation improvement projects and other CDOT activities.
- Develop correspondence, representing the Planning and Environmental Unit.
- Maintain a database for environmental data.
- Schedule meetings and trainings for the Planning and Environmental Unit.
- Participate in field and other meetings as required to support data collection and impact assessment.
- Obtain appropriate environmental clearances and ensure permits are obtained in a manner that minimizes project delays.
- Manage SAP processing of Purchase and Travel cards and process invoices in OnBase.
- Serve as a backup customer service support representative for Region 3.
- Review time sheets for Region 3 Planning and Environmental personnel, answer questions and make corrections as needed.
- Track and provide guidance on completion of required paperwork, leave usage and time keeping.
- Make hotel reservations for the Planning and Environmental section including maintaining a travel card for the reservations.
- Drive to and from meetings and site visits.
Work Environment:
- Work hours are primarily between 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Hybrid/Flex work arrangements are available.
- Will be required to travel to attend and assist in trainings, valid CO drivers license required.
