CDA was initially established in 1980 to provide educational and therapeutic outdoor experiences to people with disabilities in western Colorado, solely through alpine skiing at Powderhorn Ski Resort. In 2001 services were expanded into year-round recreational programs, which now include alpine skiing/snowboarding, summer camp, rafting, cycling, and sled-hockey.

Responsibilities: Assists the Program Director and Program Manager with supervising, supporting, and guiding volunteers, and program activities.

Job Summary:
The Program Coordinator works directly under the supervision of the Program Director and Program Manager in the planning, organization, and execution of CDA’s adaptive programs. The Coordinator will assist with volunteer coordination, participant registration, and day-to-day operations. This role requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to work closely with multiple organizations, including CDA and community partners.
This position is a full-time 32 to 40 hrs/ week position that may include weekends depending on the season and program. The hours may vary depending on the demands of our partners, and program events. Office hours generally fall between Monday to Friday 7 am - 6 pm MST. Time will flex to accommodate the demand of the evening and weekend hours for the program. The Program Coordinator is responsible for opening and closing the office before and after office hours.
As the Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for:
Program Support
- Assist with activity setup, participant check-ins and ensuring necessary equipment and materials are ready.
- Facilitate communication between participants, volunteers, and staff, addressing immediate needs.
- Help coordinate logistics for transportation, scheduling and program operations.
- Step in to assist with program activities as needed.
Volunteer Coordination
- Help ensure volunteers are trained, scheduled, and prepared for their roles.
- Provide on-site support to volutneers during activities and ensure proper procedures are followed.
- Track volunteer hours and maintain accurate records.
- Assist in recruiting and retaining volunteers, ensuring a positive and rewarding experience.
Administrative & Data Management
- Assist with participant registration, scheduling, billing, and maintaining records.
- Support data collection and help compile end-of-season reports and demographics.
- Help coordinate program communications, social media updates, and logistical planning.
- Maintain inventory of program equipment and supplies, ensuring equipment is maintained, organized, and ready for use.
Risk Management
- Monitor safety during activities, observe participants and volunteers and report concerns to program staff.
- Ensure CDA and partner organizations safety protocols are followed.
- Support emergency response procedures by assisting in first aid situations or guiding participants to safety if needed.
Qualifications
Required:
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with volunteers, participants, CDA staff, and community partners
- Proficiency with Google Suite and database CRM systems.
- Valid driver's license and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in variable outdoor conditions.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in outdoor recreation or adaptive sports.
- Basic knowledge of equipment maintenance.
- WFA/WFR Certified
- Previous experience coordinating or leading programs in a non-profit or recreational setting.
Working Conditions
- Work is split between office tasks and outdoor program facilitation.
- Requires flexibility to adapt to changing schedules, weather conditions, and program demands.
- Involves extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, and assisting with physical tasks.
